So far, the names of four new runewords for Diablo 2 Resurrected have leaked: Unbending Will, Wisdom, Mist, and Flickering Flame.
Just recently, we shared news about Unbending Will, the first brand-new runeword for Diablo 2 in 17 years. Three more D2R runes from the upcoming v2.4 update for Diablo 2 Resurrected have been revealed.
There are three further runewords that have been uncovered, each with their own unique set of applications: "Flickering Flame" (Nef + Pul + Vex), "Wisdom" (Pul + Ith + Eld), and "Mist" (Cham + Shael + Gul +Thul + Ith). The first two runewords are adequate, and each has a narrow range of uses.
(Nef + Pul + Vex) A flickering flame.
Flickering Flame is a runeword based on a helmet, and it's quite pricey, needing a Pul and a Vex that are also used in the potent Heart of the Oak runeword, which Hammerdins prefers. A high cost for an intriguing idea for casters, especially fire sorcerers and druids. It's not hard to see how a combination of +3 fire abilities and a reduction of the enemy's fire resistance by % may be extremely effective. Against hydras in Trav and Mephisto runs, the resist fire aura will free up some other in-slot equipment that may have been saved for fire resistance.
Pul (Ith) Eld (Eld) = Wise
The following, more reasonably priced option is Wisdom. It's a runeword for a 3os helmet that will set you back Pul, Ith, and Eld. These numbers are intriguing for melee builds, especially bowazons, and the price is right. Despite lacking skills, this character has some of the finest defenses against slowing for melee characters thanks to their percent piercing attack, bonus to attack rating, mana leech, and inability to be frozen.
Cham, Shale, Gul, Thul, and Ith all add up to mist.
Mist, a potent but somewhat pricey bow runeword, comes in at last. You can find mist in 5os bows (hydra bows, grand matron bows, matriarchal bows), and it provides massive powerhouse effects for raw damage. The large 300 percent + increased damage, +3 skills, freezes target, and huge +40 all resistances it provides when donned, along with the concentration aura it generates, make this item a show-stopper. Any player that regularly use Razortail for bowazons can benefit greatly from the piercing attack, and those players will also receive a free in-slot item.
While the runewords and the release date of patch 2.4 remain unknown, we do know that the ladder will be reset to reflect the new runewords, skill balances, and monster nerfs.
