Teamwork par excellence
In previous FIFA games, a player's chemistry with another player in Ultimate Team depended on where they were placed in the starting XI.
As right back and left defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, respectively, did not improve the chemistry of a FUT team. In FIFA 23, players will combine for chemistry using the same criteria (club, league, and nationality), however chemistry will be gained regardless of the location of the connected player.
The practice of manually switching players' places during games has been eliminated, and now each player's profile will include up to three different positions they may play in.
Football for females
Notably, this year's tournament will feature both individual female players and teams. Sam Kerr, a player for Chelsea FC, was the first female athlete to appear on the cover, and she used her platform to advocate for the inclusion of both the French and English women's leagues.
Playing the second installment of HyperMotion
HyperMotion 2 is another feature that EA Sports is pushing, as it allows for more realistic player movement during a match and is said to provide "greater realism every time you step onto the pitch."
Soccer mode for the World Cup
In honor of November's upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, FIFA 23 will have a World Cup mode. As part of this, both men and women can compete in a tournament without FUT Coins.
Gaming across several platforms
At long last, FIFA 23 has been produced by EA Sports to allow for cross-console play. However, this will only work with consoles from the same generation, therefore PS4 players can only compete with Xbox One players and PS5 players can compete with Xbox Series S/X players.
The Nintendo Switch version does not feature cross-platform play, however PC gamers will be able to join forces with those on the PS5 and Xbox Series of next-gen consoles.
New teams and competitions
For the first time since FIFA 17, Juventus will be playable in FIFA 23. Recently released installments of FIFA featured the Italian powerhouses under the name Piemonte Calcio, which was licensed to Konami.
Clubs from the Women's Super League and Division 1 Arkema will be included for the first time in FIFA 23, giving the sport a considerably larger representation than ever before.
Thanks to the addition of the Vanarama National League, fans of the English fifth tier will now be able to play as their favorite clubs as well.
In addition, all of the countries who have qualified for the 2022 World Cup should be playable, which could introduce a few fresh international teams.
